Today your dream holiday begins as you fly from India to Kenya with stopover(s) along the way.
Lean back and relax so that you are ready for an amazing and intense experience once you arrive in Kenya.
The days ahead of you will undoubtedly bring lots of experiences and leave you with fantastic memories of Kenya’s magnificent national parks, beautiful savannahs, and diverse wildlife, as well as Zanzibar’s palm-clad sandy beaches.
If you arrive the same evening, your guide will take you to a hotel near the airport, where you will spend the night.
After a hopefully pleasant flight, you will arrive to Nairobi Airport, where your guide will be waiting to welcome you – possibly with a “Karibu”, which means “Welcome” in Swahili.
If you have arrived the night before, the guide will pick you up at the hotel after breakfast.
Your driver will take you to the Amboseli National Park, which is located nearby the impressive Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest mountain in Africa.
While driving to the national park, you may enjoy the view of the fascinating scenery or take a nap so that you are rested when you arrive at Amboseli National Park.
Here you will go on your first game drive where you will have the opportunity to experience an impressive array of wildlife. Although Amboseli is especially known for its many elephant flocks, the area generally boasts a very rich wildlife.
After the game drive, you will proceed to the lodge where you will have time to relax.
You will start the day by going on an early game drive to witness the spectacular sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro – which is actually situated in neighbouring Tanzania. The majestic, snow-capped mountain dominates the landscape and forms a beautiful backdrop.
The Amboseli National Park is mainly covered by grassland on the border between Kenya and Tanzania, but you can also experience woodland, rivers, and lakes in the park.
The national park is home to approximately 900 elephants who migrate across the savannah on a daily basis to drink and bathe in the swamps. This is a very impressive sight – and often a highlight if you are travelling to Kenya with children.
After an eventful game drive, you drive back to the lodge where you will have time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to go on a late game drive as well.
Today you will proceed to Lake Elementaita, where you will have lunch upon arrival to the lodge.
In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the beautiful Lake Naivasha – a shallow freshwater lake located in the famous East African Great Rift Valley.
This area is particularly known for its large population of hippos and its rich birdlife with more than 400 different bird species, including pelicans, storks, kingfishers, and the huge African fish eagle.
At Lake Naivasha you will have the opportunity to go on a boat trip (extra charge) to experience the hippos up close. You will also pass Crescent Island, which is home to herbivorous animals such as zebras, wildebeest, and antelopes exclusively.
If water levels allow, it is possible to visit the island and experience the animals up close.
Read more about the boat trip on Lake Naivasha here.
Well stocked with impressions and memorable experiences, you will return to the lodge by Lake Elementaita.
Rise and shine... Early in the morning you will proceed to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, which is one of the best places to experience The Big Five: the elephant, the rhino, the buffalo, the lion, and the leopard.
Upon arrival to the Masai Mara you will check in at the lodge, and in the afternoon your guide will take you on your first game drive in this fantastic reserve.
The Masai Mara is one of the most famous national parks in the entire world and is known for its endless plains, its characteristic, cattle-guarding Masai people, and its exceptional wildlife, including giraffes, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles, cheetahs, hyenas, and an impressive array of bird species.
After an eventful game drive, you return to the lodge.
You will spend the entire day in the wonderful Masai Mara Reserve, which is named after the Mara River and the Masai people who live here.
Choose between going on an early morning game drive before breakfast or enjoying the spectacular view of the Masai Mara from a hot air balloon followed by breakfast with bubbles on the savannah (extra charge).
In the afternoon, you will go on another exciting game drive in the reserve, and if travelling between July and October, you might have the chance to experience the Great Migration in the Masai Mara – known as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
More than one million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles migrate in flocks from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya in search of fresh grass. It is a dangerous journey, and on their way to the lush plains of the Masai Mara, the animals must cross the crocodile-filled Mara River.
Witnessing the Great Migration is a truly amazing experience! But even if travelling outside this period, Masai Mara has plenty to offer with its fascinating wildlife and endless plains.
After another wonderful game drive, you will return to the lodge to relax and enjoy your last night in Kenya before heading to the picturesque island of Zanzibar in the morning.
Today it is time to say goodbye to the Masai Mara. Your guide will pick you up at the lodge after breakfast and take you to the airport where you will board the plane to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival to the paradise island of Zanzibar, you will be greeted by a driver who will take you to your hotel.
It is now time for a relaxing beach holiday where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful white sandy beaches and the turquoise crystal-clear Indian Ocean.
Zanzibar is truly Paradise on Earth. Take a dip in the crystal-clear Indian Ocean, or build sandcastles in the soft, white sand. Read a book in the shadow of a palm tree, go for a swim in the inviting swimming pool, or indulge in a relaxing massage at the hotel spa. There are many opportunities for relaxation and self-indulgence in Zanzibar!
If you prefer a little more action, the fascinating life under the surface of the ocean with colourful fish and beautiful coral reefs can easily be explored with snorkelling or diving equipment.
You can also visit one of the island’s many spice farms, explore the tropical forests, or take a trip to Stone Town – the old town of Zanzibar City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its colourful culture and historic buildings.
Whether you are into interesting excursions, water sports, or pure relaxation, you will not be bored in Zanzibar. The beautiful island paradise has something for everyone!
After an amazing beach holiday, it is now time to say goodbye to wonderful Zanzibar.
Your driver will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the airport for your flight back to India.
During the flight, you can look back at the many memorable experiences that you have gained on safari in Kenya’s national parks and during your beach holiday in exotic Zanzibar.
The beach holiday can be extended if you wish to have more time in beautiful Zanzibar.
